Our Junior Div 2 team came up against tough competition last Sunday, The Vines Golf Club, who were winners of this year’s McMillan Shield competition.
It was always going to be a tough game, but not to be outdone, the whole team gave it their all.
Kianu was first off at number five, and although relatively new to golf, he has a great future ahead of him. His determination was evident on every shot. Unfortunately, he went down to a far more experienced player, 6/4.
At number four, Kaylah played at her best hitting some amazing shots. When she got her rhythm, there was no stopping her. She is definitely the dragon slayer, winning 4/2.
Genna as always comes into her best after nine holes. She had a topsy turvy start and was two down for most of the day, but levelled late in the match to eventually win 2 up. A great turn around!
Playing at number two, this was Max’s highest position he has played. This is also Max’s first season and clearly has a great future ahead of him. He played some of the best golf he has played so far this year, but unfortunately coming up against a very strong and experienced player, he eventually went down 3/2.
Benji lead from start to finish and never looked like losing. In normal Benji style, he takes everything in his stride and took down his opponent 5/4.
It was a fantastic win which catapults us into second position on the ladder.
We take on Glenelg at Tea Tree Gully next Sunday at 12:15pm.
