What an absolutely incredible and exciting day for our young junior stars.
It was always going to be a very tight contest with one of our only two losses for the season against Country Districts earlier in the season. They are a very strong team made up from country clubs and most have a lot more experience than our debutants.
Kaylah was relentless, never wavering in her pursuit of a win. She never gave her opponent a chance and took the contest early 7/5.
Max had a tough day and struggled from the start but, to his credit, he fought hard and stayed in the contest until the 16th hole. He finally went down 5/3.
Brock had a topsy turvy day, going 2 down then 2 up then square. It was a very tight and hard fought battle until the very end. Brock finally lost 1 down on the 18th.
Benji had his nose in front most of the day but his opponent fought back to square at one point. Benji was having none of that, putting his foot down and winning 3/2. It was a great win for Benji who is only 9 years old and no bigger than a grasshopper playing against a very seasoned 17 year old.
The match of the day, though, belongs to Genna. She really struggled on the front nine and was 3 down very early in the match. She gritted her teeth and held on as much as she could, waiting for her opportunity. Her opponent was undefeated for the season and was full of confidence. Not to be outdone, Genna, who was 3 down with three holes to play, squared the match on the 18th and had to go down the 19th for a result. She never wavered in her endeavour, hitting it long and straight down a long par 5 with no shots given. She eventually won on the 19th to put our very talented team into the final next week.
We take on Royal Adelaide at Glenelg at 9:00am on Sunday.
