This weekend sees six of our eight pennant teams teeing it up in semi-final or finals action following a strong showing in the minor rounds.

Our Simpson Cup and Sanderson Cup teams will be at Kooyonga on Sunday for their semi-finals, with both teams hoping to continue their great form throughout the minor round, finishing top and second respectively.

Our Sanderson Cup team face the toughest challenge against a strong Kooyonga side around their home track, but our girls go in with a slight edge, having already beaten Kooyonga in their round 3 clash earlier in the season. Our Simpson Cup boys face a rematch against The Vines, who they played and defeated last week around a shortened Glenelg course to claim top spot on the ladder. There is no doubt The Vines will want to exact revenge for last week’s result, so the challenge is on for our boys to show they are the deserved minor premiers.

An added incentive for both teams is the opportunity to play the final around their home track, with The Grange scheduled to host the Simpson & Sanderson Cup finals next Sunday, 14th July on the West course.

After finishing second on individual contests only, our Bonnar Cup side comes up against Kooyonga in their semi-final clash at North Adelaide on Sunday. The boys have also had a stellar season, winning five matches, halving with ladder leaders Glenelg, and losing only one match, coincidentally against their forthcoming semi-final opponents. This should be the added incentive needed for our boys on Sunday, who will no doubt be hoping for the chance of a rematch against top team Glenelg, should both teams make it through to the final shootout next week around a shortened Glenelg course.

Our junior stars of the future, both Sharp Cup and Junior Division 2, play at home on the West course this Sunday as we host the junior pennant semi-finals. Both teams have had great seasons, with our division two team finishing 2nd on the ladder and our Sharp Cup boys finishing 4th. They will face a tough semi-final match up against an undefeated Royal Adelaide team, but with home course advantage on their side, anything is possible in matchplay. Our division 2 team come up against Country Districts and are determined make amends for the 3.5-1.5 loss in their round 4 clash earlier in the season. We strongly encourage all members to come out and support our young stars as they represent their club around their home track this Sunday from 11:15am.

Lastly, but most importantly, our Women’s A4 pennant team take on Kooyonga in their final on Monday at West Lakes. Coming from third position, our girls convincingly defeated the second placed Tea Tree Gully side in their semi-final match last Monday. When the team last met Kooyonga, in their round 1 clash way back in May, Kooyonga claimed a 4-1 win, but since then, our girls have climbed their way back up the ladder and bring some great form into the final. If you get a chance, why not pop out to West Lakes on Monday morning and support the girls in their quest for the Women’s A4 pennant – and hopefully, the first of many 2024 pennants!
